The 90s! Who doesn’t feel a twinge of nostalgia when reminiscing about those simpler times? Our latest favorite is the #90’s – A Middle-Class Biopic. The 90s web series on ETV Win, transports us back to the vibrant days of our youth in Wanaparthy. With six episodes packed with warmth and humor, it perfectly encapsulates the ups and downs of a middle-class family that we can all relate to—because, let’s be honest, who didn’t have a strict yet loving parent keeping tabs on their homework?

    Meet the Family

At the heart of the series is Raghu’s family, a colorful ensemble that reminds us of our own—complete with the ever-watchful father, the multi-tasking mother, the ambitious daughter, and the mischief-making youngest son. If this doesn’t ring a bell, we must be living in alternate realities!

Shekar: The Strict Yet Loving Father

Enter Shekar, played by the ever-reliable Shivaji Vasuki. This government math teacher may be a tad strict, but he’s got a heart of gold. With his catchphrase, “Knowledge is the only wealth that can never be taken away from you,” he often sounds like our own parents (minus the eye-rolls, of course).

Remember that time we forgot to turn in an assignment? Well, in one particularly memorable scene, when Aditya does the same, Shekar softens as he recalls his own childhood struggles. You could practically hear the collective sigh of parents everywhere—“See, I was a kid once, too!” Those moments remind us that beneath the discipline lies in the trunk of nostalgic empathy.

Sobha Rani: The Heart of the Home

Then there’s Sobha Rani, brilliantly portrayed by Vasanthika. She’s like the glue holding the family together while juggling the chaos of life. Her mantra, “Every home has its storms, but we must learn to dance in the rain,” could easily grace the walls of any middle-class home, right alongside the “Live, Laugh, Love” signs.

We still chuckle about how she stretches the family budget, transforming the simplest ingredients into meals that would make any master chef weep with envy. Who knew a single potato could be morphed into a culinary masterpiece? The struggles of budgeting and meal prep really hit home—sometimes, you need a little creativity (and a lot of patience) to make it work!

    Divya: The Adventurous Spirit

And then there’s Divya, brought to life by Rohan, who adds a sprinkle of rebellion and joy to the mix. As the only daughter, she’s constantly at odds with societal expectations. Her spirited quest to pursue dance, despite her father’s traditional views, reminds us of our own youthful dreams—those moments when we thought we could conquer the world, one dance move at a time.

One scene in particular had us in stitches: Divya sneaking out for a dance competition, only to be hilariously caught by Shekar. Talk about a dramatic showdown! Those little sparks of rebellion make us remember the innocence of youth and the ever-present generational gap that so many of us navigate.

    Aditya: The Mischievous Younger Brother

Aditya, the youngest sibling, played by Snehal, serves up mischief like it’s his full-time job. His antics bring much-needed comic relief, especially when he tries to outsmart his father in a math game, only to end up in a hilariously sticky situation. We’ve all been there, haven’t we? That moment when you think you’ve nailed it, only to realize you’ve been completely outwitted. Classic!

    Exploring the Themes

    The Struggle for Education

At its core, #90’s dives deep into the struggles surrounding education. It paints a vivid picture of many middle-class families’ emotional and financial strains. As we watch, it’s like looking in a mirror—every anxiety over exams, every late-night study session, every ambitious dream feels painfully familiar.

    Familial Bonds

But amidst the chaos, it beautifully captures the essence of family love. The heartfelt dialogues remind us that, despite the squabbles, we’re all in this together. As Shekar aptly puts it, “In our family, we may fight, but we never stop loving.” It’s that timeless truth that resonates through every household—love truly is the glue that binds.

    Navigating Societal Expectations

Divya’s battle against traditional norms strikes a chord with many of us. Who hasn’t felt the weight of societal expectations? Her journey embodies the universal conflict faced by so many young people today, making her story all the more relatable.

    Why This Series Stands Out

In a sea of melodramatic shows, #90’s – A Middle-Class Biopic is like a breath of fresh air. It offers an authentic portrayal of middle-class life, steering clear of sensationalism. Each character is so well-developed that it feels like we’re watching our own stories unfold on screen.

The blend of humor and heartfelt moments is spot-on, ensuring we laugh and cry alongside the characters. Aditya and Divya’s antics remind us that life’s challenges are often lightened by laughter.

    Engaging Cinematography and Music

With gorgeous cinematography and a soundtrack that tugs at the heartstrings (thanks to Suresh Bobbili), the series immerses us in the colorful world of Wanaparthy. It’s like being transported back to our childhood, complete with all its triumphs and trials. There are more series with warm themes and narratives here, so go and watch ETV plus serials today.
